In keeping with the school’s mission, Saint John’s Junior High School adopts the Indonesian National Curriculum 2013 which is elaborated to develop and nurture individuals who are: committed to excellence, competent and confident; respecting the Catholic values, compassionate and cares for the poor; effective communicators in English, Bahasa Indonesia, or other languages; critical thinkers, creative and innovative, as well as concerned leaders and proud citizens.

Of this importance, Saint John’s Junior High School applies the English immersion, integrated thematic approach, students centered learning, as well as inquiry learning in its instructions, to create an active, creative, effective and fun environment.

God speaks through human’s daily experience. Religion subject aimed as a guide to find the values of life and God’s word through human’s daily experiences.



CME aims to develop the awareness and the knowledge of the students to their status, right, and responsibilities as a part of the society, the nation, and the state, and to improve their quality as human beings. There are six main values to develop through CME: respect, responsibility, integrity, care, resilience, and harmony.



Being the mother tongue of most of our students, Bahasa Indonesia is given to enhance their knowledge and skills in reading, writing, or expressing themselves. 

It is including reading Indonesian literatures, expressing themselves in drama performance, making posters or slogans. 

The students are also expected to be able to write Indonesian rhymes, letters, diary, and articles.



The students are expected to enjoy and challenge a competitive game situation, working on individual skills, enjoy challenging self in activities, develop a positive body and greater confidence in the audience.




Art subject is designed to develop the students’ skills and creativity in arts through activities like: drawing, coloring, crafting, making mask, mosaic, and colase, making sketch and paint, and the preparation to an art exhibition.


Music as an academic subject is given in order to equalize musical knowledge. Students are encouraged to understand both practical and theoretical aspects of music. In each term, students will do three main activities: groups’ project, theory sessions, and practical activities. As a result, students are not only able to be confident in performing on stage, but also ingenious in comprehending music theories.



The major goal of this subject is to learn English through vocabulary, grammar, speaking, listening, guided reading, reading and writing portfolio, and also through the English enrichment. Students are not taught English only, but students are taught things they can do with English.



In general, mathematics is taught to develop students’ logical and analytical thinking through algebra, geometry, arithmetic, and statistics. Specifically, we aim to teach students to appreciate the benefit of following the rules while they solve algebraic problems; to improve their ability in visualizing problems and to find the solution through it; to apply mathematics in real life situations and be creative in solving them; to learn to be honest, thorough and systematic while collecting, processing, presenting, and interpreting data.




Economics as a subject is focusing the students to understand the meaning of needs and wants, money, bank, non-bank, financial institution, and the international trade.


History is bringing the students ventured into the story of the Prehistoric men, kingdoms in Indonesia, the independence day of Indonesia, and the World War.


Through Geography the students are brought into the knowledge of the Earth kingdom, population, and civilization.




Biology expose students to the knowledge of Ecosystem, human body, and biotechnology. Students are expected to respect the environment and understand the body mechanism.


Through Physics subject, the students learn about how to connect Physics with all things and to be expert in calculation and to be able to do experiment related to Physics.


In supporting the Biology and Physics, the school is providing special periods for laboratory study. Students learn to understand the laws explaining how the natural world around works. Students also carry on experiments to be better apprehend the scientific method and find their own conclusions from observations and analysis of natural processes.



Information Communication Technology (ICT) is given in order to develop the students’ skills in performing their work through Office Applications such as Microsoft Word (Creating Report, Creating Essay, Creating Letter etc.), Microsoft Excel (Data Processing, Creating Report, Analyzing Data, etc.), Microsoft Power Point (Creating Interactive Presentation, Presenting product, etc.), Graphics Design such as GIMP (processing Image), Inkscape (Object Design), Computer Hardware and Software (Known parts of the computer, Assembly into a PC, Installing Operating system, Trouble Shooting etc.), Networking (Creating a computer network, Router Setting, etc.), Film Making (Camera Shot, Editing a Video, Scripting and Story Board, etc.)



Foreign Languages are given to enrich students with a third language to be able to communicate to a wider community. The choices are either German or Mandarin language.


Greetings, self-introduction and introduce people, asking and question about a person’s identity,  grateful and apologize, Chinese numbers, selling and buying, option sentences, comparison, and family members. Students also learning the pronunciation and tone of Hanzi (Chinese Character), how to write Hanzi (Chinese Character), dictation and grammar.


German Lesson is divided into two part, they are A1 and A2.

A1 : Students can understand and use familiar, everyday expressions and very simple sentences, which relate to the satisfying of concrete needs. Can introduce him/herself and others as well as ask others about themselves, and can response to questions of this nature and can communicate in a simple manner.

A2 : Students can understand sentences and commonly used expressions associated with topics directly related to his/her direct circumstances. Students can make him/herself understood in simple, routine situations dealing with a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and common topics. Students can also describe his/her background and education.
