June 4 – Monday

Monday of the Ninth Week in Ordinary Time

Reading 1 : 2 Pt 1: 2-7

Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 91

In you , my God, I place my trust.

Gospel: MK 12:1-12

The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.

We often see a pile of discarded stones on a building site. Or on a ruined site. We can imagine uses for such a stone. Jesus’ parable encourages us never to write a stone off as useless. The same with a person. The weakness or sin that we don’t like in ourselves might become the healing grace of Jesus, or an encouragement and strength to another. Paul will later say ‘when I am weak, then I am strong’.

Lord, please help us live with full confidence in Your faithful provision, so we can give freely and fearlessly to You and others.
