November 3 – Saturday

Saturday of the Thirtieth Week in Ordinary Time

Gospel: LK 14:1, 7-11

Reflection:

Jesus, normally is so merciful and compassionate, seems to be easily upset by self-centredness and hypocrisy. We are living in a world that values competition and success, occupying the ‘place of honour’, above all else, where there is little space for the weak and for those who are unable to push themselves forward. Jesus’ telling us that, ‘All who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.’

He is reminding us that we would do well to look at how we behave and to discover what really lies in our hearts.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, I ask you to give me light and freedom in my everyday dealings with others, especially in my competitive world. Amen.
