July 30 – Monday

Monday of the Seventeenth Week in Ordinary Time

Reading 1 – JER 13:1-11

Responsorial Psalm – DEUTERONOMY 32:18-19, 20, 21

You have forgotten God who gave you birth.

Gospel : MT 13:31-35

He spoke to them only in parables

Reflection:

Jesus often uses images of smallness when describing the heavenly kingdom. Through the wonders of creation God provides living water and radiant sunlight so that the tiny mustard grows over time to become ‘the greatest of shrubs’ firmly rooted in the ground providing shelter for the many birds who rest in its branches.

Prayer:

Lord, keep us rooted in faith so that we can grow to know you more, and experience the great love which you have for us. Amen
